There’s Power in Asking for Help.

If you are experiencing a behavioral health challenge—whether it is just starting, or has been building for some time—it can be hard to figure out what to do. Bay Cove Behavioral Health & Wellness Center is here to assist! Just give us a call and we will work together to figure out the best next steps for your situation.

What happens when I call?

You will speak to someone who will listen to you describe your situation. Our first goal will be to determine if you are physically safe and not in need of immediate attention. If you and the Bay Cove staff decide together that an urgent visit with a mental health professional is the best next step, a clinician will be dispatched to your location, usually arriving within an hour. If you and the Bay Cove staff decide together that the situation does not require an immediate response, you will invited to come to our office during our Open Access hours, Open Access hours are available 7 days a week. During Open Access hours, there is always a clinician available to meet with you within and hour. The goal of that initial meeting will be to work together with the clinician to determine which of our array of services is the best match for moving you forward through whatever challenge you are experiencing. Our goal is to see people interested in participating in ongoing behavioral health care as quickly as possible, sometimes even that same day!

If your situation requires an immediate crisis response, the mobile crisis intervention clinician will review your situation with you, and the resource options available to help you resolve the crisis. The clinician will conduct an evaluation and, with your input, create a plan that will help you to resolve the crisis.

This plan may include referrals to outpatient therapy for individuals and families, expedited psychopharmacology services for youth and adults, substance use services, Adult or Youth Community Crisis Stabilization and/or enhanced care coordination, peer recovery coaches, and family partners – all services provided by the Bay Cove Behavioral Health & Wellness Center! At times, a behavioral health challenge will rise to the level of requiring inpatient treatment—like a detox program or hospital—if this is the case, we will help arrange that in the least disruptive way possible, sometimes being able to coordinate a direct admission without having to go through the emergency department where people can end up spending hours before they even get to the facility where they will receive the help they need. We will work with every person until they feel safe, and are comfortable with the treatment plan

Our team will also work closely with you to develop ideas on how to tap into your personal support network. Your plan may also include referrals for transportation services, nutrition assistance, or housing services. Our goal is not only to resolve the current crisis but to leave you with tools to manage difficult times that may recur.

The goal of the mobile crisis intervention visit is to create a plan with the person/family with the goal of the person in crisis being able to remain at home with community-based support. Anyone who is seen by our mobile crisis intervention team will be enrolled in our follow-up program, where a member of the Bay Cove staff will call each day to check in and ensure that the situation is stabilizing. We may ask if symptoms have worsened or improved, ask if a person is still comfortable with the treatment plan, or if anything else has happened that changes the person’s situation. These calls are meant to provide support while you and your family work to implement the plans made during the evaluation.

In some cases, a person we assist will go to a treatment facility for their safety, like a behavioral health hospital, or a substance use treatment facility. We will communicate all important information to this facility and remain in communication with the treatment team throughout the stay. The goal is to keep the community connection, even when a treatment facility stay is necessary, and we will do everything we can to make this process as smooth and comfortable as possible.

Anytime!

“We were so thankful Bay Cove came right away when our son felt so desperate. They helped him find the help he needed we never knew existed.”
